I simboli dell'incudine, dell'inchiostro, della penna e del libro appaiono ripetutamente sui manifesti socialisti durante la guerra civile come tributo alle due basi fondatrici del PSOE, gli intellettuali e i lavoratori, volti a cambiare la Spagna attraverso il lavoro e l'istruzione. Un altro elemento caratteristico, ripetuto in molti altri poster, è il gigantismo espressivo nella rappresentazione del lavoratore in questo caso.
