Pirosmani non aveva molta vita familiare . All'età di sei anni , suo fratello maggiore è morto , seguito da entrambi i suoi genitori due anni dopo . Le sue altre due sorelle andarono a vivere con altri parenti , lasciando solo il ragazzo . Fu accolto dal suo father’s datore di lavoro e sua moglie , che ha avuto sei figli . anche se pirosmani ha vissuto con la famiglia per oltre 15 anni , era poco più che un animale domestico di famiglia , prendersi cura dei bambini più piccoli , e dato pochissima guida . Pirosmani’s l'ingenuità infantile nella pittura potrebbe aver avuto più a causa della mancanza di cure che ha ricevuto mentre cresceva più della sua mancanza di un'istruzione formale in pittura .
