Still Life con un Punch Bowl è pensato di essere stato creato per il posizionamento su una porta, come è stato l'abitudine in alcune case più ricche di alta classe alla fine del XVIII secolo. Essa deve tuttavia essere riconosciuta come una vita ancora a suo diritto. Gli studiosi di Schillmark non sono stati in grado di accertare come è stato in grado di abbracciare il fascino distintivo ai sensi così specifici di questo dipinto, e caratteristica della pittura di vita ancora in generale. Forse ha visto simili dipinti di vita ancora in Svezia, come non ci sarebbe stato nessuno in Finlandia al momento. La ciotola è vera porcellana cinese importata dalla East India Trading Company, una rarità e un segno di ricchezza. Il limone, una rara delicatezza in sé, era un ingrediente essenziale nel pugno servito dalla ciotola.
