Un artista neozelandese all'estero, dipinto dal suo tutor irlandese. Dorothy Kate Richmond (1861-1935) prese lezioni di schizzo estivo con Norman Garstin in Francia, Cornovaglia, Belgio e Olanda tra il 1901 e il 1903. Lei e il suo compagno di viaggio, il pittore Frances Hodgkins, concordarono che a Garstin avevano incontrato finalmente il loro 'artista ideale & uomo'. La coppia esibiva insieme a Wellington al loro ritorno – ma mentre Hodgkins perseguì una carriera all'estero, Richmond rimase, diventando una figura centrale nella scena artistica locale.
