Rivisitando con ammirazione questo tempio Zen vicino a Osaka come un rifugio cinese, Beisanjin rivela sapientemente il cuore e l'anima del sito, in particolare il suo patrimonio culturale. Un commerciante di riso a Osaka noto per il suo amore per l'apprendimento, Beisanjin è stato un pittore dilettante i cui flash rapidi di intuizione sono stati profondamente ammirati sia dai suoi contemporanei che dai successivi artisti di literati. Le pennellate modellate e l'energia complessiva della superficie pittorica rivelano il suo studio sugli artisti Yuan-dynasty, in particolare Huang Gongwang (1269–1354) e i loro successori.
