Il figlio di un incisore, Eddy ha delineato i suoi soggetti con pennellate strette e felice di rendere abbigliamento e arredi. Mostrati qui sono i quattro figli di Stephen Ball Alling e Jane H. Weir del New Jersey, dipinto in commemorazione della morte dell'unico ragazzo, in piedi a sinistra. Eddy lo ha separato dalle sue sorelle e ha bagnato i suoi piedi in una piscina di luce inquietante.
