Invece di riflettere accuratamente la natura, Cézanne ha voluto suscitare nello spettatore un'impressione di massa e profondità. Su questo acquerello, composto da macchie e dipinto intorno al 1900, la carta sinistra bianca è tanto un elemento di formatura spaziale quanto i pennellate colorate, ed è principalmente queste superfici bianche, che fanno emergere le luci vibranti del paesaggio soleggiato.
