A prima vista, questa coppa coperta sembra essere un'opera tradizionale dell'argento del XVIII secolo. Poi lo spettatore si rende conto che la parte stessa della coppa che deve essere afferrata per tenerla è la cosa stessa che la maggior parte sazia di toccare. Un paio di serpenti realistici trafigge l'argento e gira intorno alla nave per formare maniglie squamose. Questo incontro inaspettato si realizza con ornamenti grotteschi: una combinazione non convenzionale di forme naturali, creature terrene e figure mostruose.
