Qui, Klee trasforma invenzionalmente la città industriale di Duisburg in un pictogramma imbattibile. Un paesaggio marino, con barche, un litorale e ondeggianti, è abbreviato in contorni impostati contro toni muti di mauve, verde, pesca, rosa e buff. Klee utilizza forme geometriche aperte per le case e le barche nella metà superiore dell'immagine, dove un piano di colore si fonde in un altro. Nel frattempo, il fiume Reno appare come linee scivolose. Questo lavoro può evocare gli anni felici Klee trascorso nella vicina città di Düsseldorf dal 1931 al 1933.
