Un ritratto marito e moglie – meno la moglie. Guarda attentamente, e noterai un tocco di pizzo nell’angolo inferiore destro del dipinto. Questo è tutto ciò che rimane della prima moglie del Dr Gray Hassell, Eliza, che morì nel 1926. A quanto pare, la sua seconda moglie, Brownie Goddard, aveva il suo predecessore letteralmente tagliato fuori dalla foto. Il dottor Hassell nacque a Ōamaru, e si alleò come medico in Scozia.
