All'inizio degli anni '60 Philips iniziò a progettare con sempre più enfasi sulla standardizzazione della forma e della tecnologia e l'adattamento al design popolare. L'elemento alla moda di questo tostapane pop-up del 1964 è i pannelli laterali smaltati. Questi sono stati disponibili in una gamma di colori popolari, tra cui rosa, azzurro e verde chiaro. Il tostapane può tostare entrambi i lati di due fette di pane allo stesso tempo. Quando finito, il brindisi viene sollevato automaticamente dal tostapane – il principio di pop-up.
