Nel 1884 il Royal Hospital for Sick Children di Edimburgo ha risposto alla richiesta di una stanza in cui ‘i corpi possono essere lasciati riverenti e amorevolmente per i genitori prima delle sepolture’. Una casa di carbone dismessa è stata trasformata in una cappella mortuaria e il giovane artista Phoebe Traquair è stato invitato a decorare le pareti. Questi piccoli lavori sono studi per i murales sulla parete nord della stanza e sono intitolati, da sinistra a destra: Un angelo che scorta un angelo verso il cielo, la Vergine e il Bambino con gli angeli e lo Spirito Santo risvegliando lo spirito del defunto. Traquair fu affascinato dall'arte pre-eighteenth secolo e incorporava una miscela di elementi celtici, bizantini, gotici e barocchi nel design. I cerchi interlocking sul telaio sono un segno della Santissima Trinità.
