I TEMPOLI DI ABYDOSIda Scrivendo sulla visita ad Abydos: “Abydos, 5 gennaio. Abbiamo lasciato El-Balyana alle 8 e abbiamo guidato per due ore alle rovine di Abydos, città sacra dell'Egitto, precedentemente una grande città, ora un piccolo villaggio. Questa era la posizione della famosa tomba di Osiris, e qualsiasi pio egiziano non avrebbe voluto altro che essere sepolto qui. Il Tempio di Seti, dedicato a Osiris, è una struttura ammirevole con grandi sale ipostyle e rilievi sulle colonne e sulle pareti, la cosiddetta Galleria dei Re e la famosa Lista Re Abydos costituita da immagini della vita di Re Seti, Ramesse II e altri re. Ci sono anche deliziosi rilievi dei re sulle altre pareti.
