Appena toccata di rosso, la piccola figura che si trova lungo la strada è l’unica presenza umana nel paesaggio luminoso di Théodore Rousseau. Celebrando la natura sopra l’umanità, Rousseau è stato un naturalista inesplorato che ha nutrito il rispetto duraturo del gruppo Barbizon per gli antichi boschi di Fontainebleau. Qui trasporta la chiarezza e la calma di rugiada di una mattina di primavera come i primi raggi di sole bagnano le antiche querce della foresta in un bagliore dorato. Il sito raffigurato è il Carrefour de la Reine-Blanche, il crocevia della Regina Bianca, una raduta nella foresta non lontano da Barbizon. 71.2054
