Decine di colori si uniscono per evocare l'effetto abbagliante della luce solare sui vestiti bianchi di queste ragazze. Nonostante le rapide pennellate, Pierre-Auguste Renoir non ha sacrificato i dettagli per l'effetto. Ha accuratamente reso i lacci degli stivali delle ragazze, la collana di nastro nero della sitter più giovane, e anche il fiore sulla mazzetta del cofano di paglia. Un capolavoro impressionista, il doppio ritratto raffigura le figlie di Paul Durand-Ruel, un commerciante d'arte parigino che ha sostenuto l'opera di artisti come Renoir. 71.518
