Il dipinto di stile manierista “Cristo sulla croce” con la sua composizione finemente eseguita di molte figure è come un romanzo che dovrebbe essere letto con attenzione per molto tempo. Il tema religioso è stato dipinto come un'osservazione diretta dalla vita. Cristo può essere visto tra due criminali. Attraverso la croce c’è Maria Maddalena piangente, Santa Veronica con la fiamma di Cristo, San Giovanni e altre figure. In primo piano i soldati romani stanno lanciando dadi per il mantello di Cristo. Nelle vicinanze vediamo gli strumenti utilizzati per crocifiggere Cristo e innumerevoli dettagli più diversi e interessanti con significato simbolico. I gesti sono importanti perché trasmettono emozioni e umore. I colori contrastanti creano espressione e dramma.
