Questo ritratto è un ciondolo al Ritratto di un Uomo (29.100.3). Se l'uomo è Cornelis van Beresteyn, allora la donna deve essere la sua seconda moglie, Corvina van Hofdyck (1602–1667). La sua posa, comprese le posizioni precise delle mani (una che tiene un fan di struzzo), ripete quello della suocera come raffigurato da Jacob Willemsz. Delff nel 1592. I due ritratti di Rembrandt sembrano essersi conformati nel disegno ad un insieme dinastico di ritratti che originariamente appesi nella casa della famiglia Van Beresteyn a Delft.
