Lalique espose questo pezzo, il suo primo a usare l'avorio, nella sezione Scultura del Salone della Società degli Artisti francesi nel 1894. Il suggerimento di farlo potrebbe essere venuto dal suo amico, l'attrice Sarah Bernhardt, che ha anche esposto alcune delle sue sculture lì.
