Il gioco della luce sull'acqua, attraverso foglie e fuori muratura, anima questa scena tranquilla di una casa sulle rive del fiume San Antonio sulla West Commerce Street centro (oggi, nel cuore del Riverwalk della città). Uno dei primi artisti professionisti di San Antonio, Robert Jenkins Onderdonk si trasferì in Texas nel 1879 dopo la scuola d'arte a New York. Divenne uno degli artisti più influenti della città, sia per il suo insegnamento che per le sue immagini che documentano i personaggi e il fascino della sua città adottata.
