Secondo le note di Helen Clay Frick, sua madre Adelaide Frick indossava questo ensemble dal designer francese Gustave Beer ad un ricevimento dato alla Casa Bianca dal presidente Theodore Roosevelt. A partire dal 1905, l'abito è realizzato in velluto di seta, taffeta e raso, pizzo a punta di Bruxelles, nastro di tessuto e filo metallico d'oro. Il suo stile “S-curve” era l’altezza della moda al momento, uno sguardo ottenuto indossando un corsetto restrittivo. Gustave Beer si trovava a Parigi sul Place Vendome dal 1905-1914. Ha anche venduto le sue collezioni in hotel di lusso durante la stagione turistica.
