Anche se questa rara sezione manoscritta sopravvissuta di un'antologia di poesia Heian-periode non è stata certamente scritta dal stimato monaco-poet Saigyō, basato sul confronto con esempi accettati della sua scrittura, nel corso della sua trasmissione attraverso i secoli è diventato associato a lui. Possiamo supporre che gli intenditori abbiano fatto la connessione perché lo stile calligrafico, con le sue forme più audace e brusca di kana, un sistema di scrittura sillabica, era, infatti, molto probabilmente spazzolato circa il tempo Saigyō era attivo come poeta di waka, trenta poemi di corte sillabi del tipo qui registrato.
