Le pennellate e la composizione di questo dipinto sono piuttosto vicine allo stile degli artisti del XIV secolo Huang Gongwang (1269 - 1354) e Ni Zan (1301 - 1374). Nella prima sezione di questa pergamena, Shen Zhou combinava gli stili di Ni e Huang. Ha usato i lunghi colpi di trama canapa-fibra di Huang Gongwang per dipingere le rocce e le colline e ha adottato Ni Zan
