Questa rappresentazione abbreviata e abbozzata di giovani germogli di bambù che emergono dalla terra e l'iscrizione di accompagnamento in script cursivo sono l'opera di Shokusanjin (meglio conosciuto come Ōta Nanpo), poeta e autore di narrativa. Rinomato per il suo kyōka, o versi comici, Shokusanjin spesso ha collaborato con gli artisti, contribuendo la sua poesia e calligrafia ai loro dipinti o stampe. Il poema auspicio qui, scritto quando era settanta-uno, può celebrare la grande famiglia di un amico.
