Simeone Salomone, il più giovane di una famiglia di pittori, sviluppò la sua arte da elementi nell'opera di Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones e il simbolista francese Gustave Moreau. Anche se i suoi due fratelli, Abramo e Rebecca, erano pittori realisti, Simeone Salomone fu attratto dall'estetismo che aorse nei primi anni 1860 da Rossetti
