Louis Comfort Tiffany è stato il principale esponente dello stile Art Nouveau in vetreria negli Stati Uniti. Ispirato all'opera dell'artista e designer francese Emile Gallé, ha prodotto una grande varietà di vetro d'arte straordinario. Nel 1885 fondò la Tiffany Glass Company a Corona, New York, che fu ribattezzata Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. nel 1892. Tiffany ha dato il suo vetreria il nome Favrile, derivato dalla vecchia parola francese
