Le cantine di sale sono state realizzate nel produttore del noto creatore di arti applicate, Louis Comfort Tiffany, che nel 1894 brevettò un tipo speciale di vetro iridescente – favrile. Un vetro così delicato e lussuoso, con un bel bagliore metallico, ha portato la sua azienda a fama mondiale alla volta del XIX e XX secolo. Nel 1900, hanno ricevuto un premio alla World Exhibition di Parigi, e hanno guadagnato enorme popolarità. Nello stesso anno, vasi con vetro favrile si ritrovano nelle collezioni di quarantatré dei più grandi musei del mondo.
