“Anche se solo il mio cuore è giovane Quanto sono invidioso del mio corpo giovanile L'uccello cucù suona rumoroso al mio orecchio invecchiamento Ricordando il primo uccello cucù sentito cantare in primavera.” (Estratto)Ci sono due versi di poesia waka scritti da Takuan Soho su se stesso in uno stato di invecchiamento della vita. È considerato scritto nel suo ultimo anno prima della sua morte, all'età di settantatre anni. Sono stati scritti a dicembre. In mezzo all’inverno freddo, lo stato di “Oiraku” (di fronte all’invecchiamento) è emanato supremamente nell’espressione aggraziata in questa poesia.
