La sontuosa Butter Tower (Tour de Beurre) della Cattedrale di Rouen sorge sopra la rete di strade acciottolate e case medievali a metà legno che caratterizzano il centro di questa città in Normandia, in Francia. La torre deve il suo nome insolito al suo essere stato costruito con soldi raccolti attraverso la vendita di indulgenze per mangiare burro durante la Quaresima. Gran parte della parte inferiore della cattedrale è stata ingombrata e oscurata da file di negozi e case che da allora sono state demolite. In questa immagine, una processione religiosa si dirige verso il grande portale del transetto sud. L'artista, Thomas Colman Dibdin, è stato un pittore di paesaggi a Londra e pittoresche viste architettoniche in Inghilterra, Francia settentrionale, Belgio e Germania.
