Nella pittura rilassata e sicura Tiziano porta il fascino del cerchio familiare alla formula ben curata della Sacra Conversazione. Il sorriso indulgente di San Dorothy è quello di un parente in visita mentre il nobile San Giorgio ricorda irresistibilmente la forca avuncolare, sempre a destra, prendendosi molto seriamente, e pieno del consiglio migliore e più noioso. La tenda verde che unisce i colori più luminosi delle figure supporta questo stato d'animo di sicurezza domesticità. I raggi X mostrano che sia il bambino che San Giorgio originariamente affrontavano verso l'esterno, che avrebbe reso l'immagine più vecchio e più formale.
