Questo è Titian's noto solo disegno sopravvissuto per uno dei suoi ritratti dipinti . Uno studio soprattutto sull'armatura e per catturare la posa , è chiaramente basato su un modello piuttosto che sul duca stesso , a cui la testa ha poca somiglianza . Il disegno conferma così ciò che si potrebbe in ogni caso sospettare : quello Titian's i ritratti non sono stati eseguiti in presenza dei suoi spettatori , molti dei quali erano troppo grandi o troppo impegnati per dedicare molto tempo alla posa per il pittore .
