Questo dipinto era originariamente parte di una bandiera processionale per la fratellanza Corpus Domini a Urbino. Esistono documenti relativi ai pagamenti effettuati nel 1542 e nel 1544. Già nel 1546, la bandiera fu divisa. Qui, Tiziano sta ripetendo la composizione del Polittico della Resurrezione. La maggiore gamma di colori, tuttavia, è tipica del suo lavoro poco dopo il 1540, anche se entrambe le sezioni del banner sarebbero state prodotte con l'assistenza del suo laboratorio.
