francesco venier ( 1490-1556 ) fu eletto doge 11 Giugno 1554 . Regnò per appena due anni , fino a 2 Giugno 1556 . questo ritratto è un eccellente esempio del modo in cui tiziano usava il colore durante il suo ultimo periodo . L'immagine non si scompone in innumerevoli colori . Solo nell'indumento c'è un bel gioco di tonalità dorate , sottolineando la delicatezza del fragile doge . Finora non c'è stata alcuna spiegazione per l'incendio nella laguna , che è visibile attraverso la finestra . In termini di colore , il fuoco fornisce un importante contrasto con il cielo blu .
