Quest’opera raffigura il fogliame autunnale sulle montagne dal bordo dell’acqua che “è più grande che dipinto con il rouge”. Gyokudo (1745–1820) servì come samurai in Okama ma amava suonare il koto e all'età di 50 anni lasciava il suo clan per dedicarsi alle arti, vagando per il paese da Aizu (Fukushima) a Nagasaki. Come questo lavoro, che è firmato “prodotta da Gyokudo mentre ubriaco,” molti dei dipinti che ha prodotto presumibilmente per il suo divertimento sono stati completati mentre imbibing alcol. All'interno del piano d'immagine di questo rotolo sospeso orizzontale, le montagne che scivolano dolcemente sono state rese utilizzando una spazzola asciutta, con foglie e macchie di muschio sugli alberi sulle montagne e il bordo dell'acqua in primo piano dipinto in rosso e giallo. Con i suoi colori vivaci, questo bellissimo lavoro è insolito tra l'oeuvre di Gyokudo di dipinti principalmente inchiostro-lavaggio.
