Chiaroscuro In una lettera a suo fratello Theo, Van Gogh descrive questo Loom con tessitore come ‘un interno con 3 piccole finestre che si affacciano sul fogliame giallastro, che contrasta con il blu della stoffa che è in tessitura sul telaio e il fosso del tessitore, che è un altro blu di nuovo’. Egli trova il laboratorio dusky è particolarmente interessante a causa del chiaroscuro ‘rembrandtesque’. Spettacolo variegato L’abbigliamento del tessitore, il panno sul telaio e il paesaggio sullo sfondo offrono uno spettacolo vario di diverse tonalità di blu e verde. Il mostro di legno, come Van Gogh chiama il telaio, presenta una ricca varietà di marroni e neri.
