Walter Richard Sickert (1860-1942) è stato un pittore e incisore inglese, membro del Camden Town Group di Londra. Fu un'influenza importante sugli stili distintivi dell'arte d'avanguardia britannica nel XX secolo. Sickert era un cosmopolita ed eccentrico che spesso favoriva la gente comune e le scene urbane come i suoi soggetti. Il suo lavoro comprendeva anche ritratti di personalità e immagini ben note derivate da fotografie stampa. È considerato una figura prominente nella transizione dall'Impressionismo al Modernismo. Il famoso romanziere del crimine, Patricia Cornwell, negli ultimi anni ha inconcepibilmente cercato di dimostrare che Sickert era il noto serial killer Jack lo Squartatore.
