L19 fu uno Zeppelin tedesco che prese parte a un bombardamento contro l'Inghilterra il 1o febbraio 1916. Durante il viaggio di ritorno a casa, l'aeronautica è stata soffiata fuori rotta sopra l'Olanda dove ha attirato il fuoco antiaereo ed è stato danneggiato. L'astronave è scesa nel Mare del Nord con l'equipaggio vivo ma aggrappandosi al relitto. Un vicino peschereccio britannico, re Stefano, si rifiutò di aiutare l'equipaggio della nave aerea nonostante le loro pieghe, e tutti furono annegati. (L'incidente è illustrato su una medaglia di Karl Goetz, n. 66). Il riferimento al sottomarino U-22 qui non è chiaro, tuttavia. U-22 (più precisamente, UB-22) non è stato coinvolto in incidenti eccezionali con gli inglesi, anche se per il momento il sottomarino è stato affondato nel 1917 aveva silurato oltre due dozzine di navi, tra cui molte navi britanniche. L’iscrizione latina sul rovescio della medaglia di Eberbach è dell’Eneide di Virgilio (IV.625).
