Pittura che rappresenta l'attacco di uno squadrone olandese sulla flotta inglese all'ancora nel fiume Medway. Il raid di Chatham fu l'episodio conclusivo della seconda guerra anglo-olandese (1665-67).Nel 1858 Obreen attribuisce questo dipinto a Willem van de Velde.2 Willem Schellinks (1627?-1678) fece un certo numero di dipinti raffiguranti il raid.
