La battaglia di Femern ebbe luogo il 13 ottobre 1644 tra la flotta svedese e quella danese. La battaglia è considerata una delle più grandi vittorie nella storia navale svedese. Le navi svedesi furono comandate da Carl Gustaf Wrangel. Questo è il secondo di due grandi disegni di matita e inchiostro della battaglia di van der Velde a Skokloster Castle. Il primo raffigura la sua fase iniziale, mentre questo si concentra su quest'ultimo. A sinistra del centro è Wrangels flagship Smålands Lejon, e più a sinistra è la danese vice ammiragli nave Lindormen messa in fuoco. Il dipinto fu probabilmente commissionato da Wrangel durante la fine del 1640 o i primi anni 50 come modello per un arazzo tessitura. Fu anche usato come modello per l'intarsia su un set di backgammon eseguito nella città tedesca di Eger nel 1650, che appartiene alle collezioni del castello di Skokloster.
