Mellery ha creato un conundrum visivo e spaziale per lo spettatore: vediamo due porte che si aprono in direzioni opposte, o una riflessione a specchio? Le piccole discrepanze, come il cieco parzialmente alzato sulla porta in primo piano, suggeriscono una risposta. Mellery ha accuratamente manipolato la qualità e i modelli della luce solare al fine di animare l'interno e impostare un umore. In una recensione del lavoro dell'artista, il suo amico il poeta belga Emile Verhaeren ha osservato, "Ci rimane nell'atmosfera di una stanza vuota un po' dell'anima umana."
