Questo era il ritratto che Xu Beihong piaceva di più. Chen Sanli (1853-1937), nome di cortesia Boyan e penna Sanyuan, era da Yining, Jiangxi. Ha passato i suoi ultimi anni a Beiping. Era una figura chiave nella scuola di Tongguang, ed è stato considerato l'ultimo poeta tradizionale cinese. Durante l'occupazione giapponese di Beiping, morì di fame.
