Anche se a lungo attribuito a Fra Angelico, questa incantevole Natività è probabilmente del suo allievo Zanobi Strozzi, che è particolarmente noto per le sue illuminazioni manoscritte. La scena è dalla base (predella) di una pala d'altare. Soprattutto l'arco degli angeli, splendidamente coreografato e vestito in una piacevole schiera di abiti color pastello arricchiti da decorazioni in oro, è tipico dello stile essenzialmente decorativo di Zanobi.
