Questi splendidi schermi pieghevoli raffigurano fiori delle quattro stagioni intervallate da rappresentazioni della fenice. Di origine cinese, la fenice mitica è stata un motivo sacro comune in dipinti e ornamenti giapponesi. Si ritiene che la fenice orientale beva solo l'acqua dolce che nasce in tempi di pace. Mangia ‘frutta di bambù’, che appare solo una volta ogni 120 anni. Roosts solo sui rami dell'albero parasole cinese, che è anche a volte conosciuto come l'albero fenice. I dipinti sugli schermi sono brillantemente eseguiti con un eccellente senso di colore e una spazzola assicurata. La firma indica che il lavoro è stato svolto dal settembre 1784 al maggio dell'anno successivo.
