アーサー・セバーンは、去年のローマでジョン・ケツの画家と友人、ジョセフ・セバーンの息子でした。 1863年にロイヤルアカデミーで初の絵画を展示し、その後、ロイヤル・インスティテュート・オブ・ウォーター・カラー・ペインターにて展示。 1871年にルスキンのいとこ・ホアン・アグニューと結婚し、翌年はアルバート・グッドウィンとヴェネツィアにルスキンを同行しました。 その後多くの機会にヴェネツィアを塗装し、この種の新鮮で非公式な水彩で最高だった。
