鴨が水に泳ぐシーンが描かれています。 茶色の羽が水に浸る女性アヒル。 水中の体と藻は、水を通して見ることができるように、低飽和で彩られます。 他の男性は、後ろに見え、クックまで表示されます。 新鮮な青い画面の上に散らばった中国の白布は、アヒルのスプラットを再現するために使用されるようです。 羽根には、それらが固体と西洋絵画のようなシェーディング方法に見えるようにグラデーションが与えられる。 鴨の似顔絵として、この絵画が制作されたのは、1847年にイギリス博物館に所蔵された「流水の鴨」。 以前は、ボストン出身の医師であるウィリアム・ビグロー氏に所属していました。 1881年に日本を訪問し、日本美術を研究し、エルネスト・フェノロサと岡倉天信と共に作品を収集しました。
