この肖像画は、幼い頃から20代の若き男として、歌舞伎劇場の女役の名勝者である岩井久保法II(ハンシロヴィ、1799–1836)の姿を捉えています。 俳優は、衣装ではなく、正式な服で描かれています。 尺八を覆うのは絹の紫色の四角で、十七世紀以来の女性の役割の選手が着用した状態の象徴です。 岩井の名物は、同時に複数の役割を演じ、そのパフォーマンスの1つで、彼は1836年に病気になり、亡くなりました。 記念の肖像画に使われるシッターの正式なポーズは、署名の手書きのスタイルは1820年代後半にアーティストによって使用されるもので、俳優が亡くなる約10年前に使用されます。 明らかに、アーティストは碑文のスペースを残していましたが、おそらく俳優自身によって一つだったが、それは決して満たされていませんでした。 宇田川国貞は、19世紀の最も有能な浮世絵作家の1人でもありましたが、また、豪華な絵画のコミッションを取るために知られていました。
