Through the nineteenth-century photography that has come down to us, we can give an account of different events and ways of life that were taking place in the nascent Peruvian republic. Different photography houses, such as the Hermanos Courret in Lima or the Max T. Vargas in Arequipa and other cities in the southern Andean region, can account for this. This photograph is an example of a lady who was part of Lima society. We can suggest that she was part of the elite circles of society, given the elements that accompany her, such as the ring on one of her hands, her earrings, and the fan she holds. In addition, she wears an elegant dress influenced by French fashion, an important reference and element of desire by women of those times.
