This finer and more delicate version of Masland mat (known as ek rokha) is a speciality of the master artists of Paschim Medinipur area. The intricacy of the weave lies in the fine stripping of the reed. The reed used for this quality of mat is generally one tenth in width of a regular reed. The mat thus attains a fine silk llike quality and is supple like fabric. This Masland is the most time taking weave owing to its fine structure. The calculations are minute and precise and there is zero room for error in such weaves, restricting it to few experienced experts.
