This artifact is a stoneware bottle found on a site excavated in 2012 by Archaeological Services Inc. in Toronto. The site was identified as a 19th-century urban occupation. The maker’s mark identifies the maker as R.C.P. Co. of Akron Ohio (Robinson Clay Products – 1902-1975). The bottle’s content is described by the transfer printed label, “ENGLISH STONE GINGER BREWED THE TORONTO PURE GINGER BEER CO.”. Based on the date of the bottle manufacturer and archaeology, the bottle was probably sold in the early 20th century.
