Díaz Valdez’s recent show, Construir Desconstruyendo/Construct Deconstructing, titles his work and also generally describes his unique aesthetic perspective. A skilled, self-taught cabinetmaker, he investigates the form of an object and then builds it in a way that transforms it allowing us to see its essence and potential at the same time. His folding guitars, collapsing wheels and compactable chairs are like one-of-a-kind wooden origami.
