Today, theprobably most famous student of pottery of Michael Powolny and the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts is Lucie Rie (1902–1995) who was Powolny’s student from 1921–1926 and remained connected to the school until her forced exile in London in 1938. As a potter she is nowadays world-famous for her re creations shaped by the Asian tradition of pottery.
